Skoda Octavia vRS (2014-2019) review - design

Not the most fun, but well-rounded and good value too

Evo rating
  • Value, practicality and impressive pace in a handsome form
  • Not as sharp as some, 4x4 model diesel-only

Like the Octavia’s cabin, its exterior is handsome and ultimately inoffensive. The vRS additions do make a difference, enhancing the sharp (almost Audi-like) lines with extra aggression. The alloy wheels look great in both 18in and 19in formats, and Skoda’s vRS badging is subtle.

Less subtle are some of the colour options, though given the sea of grey in the average car park we’d absolutely steer potential buyers to such shades as Rallye Green Metallic or Race Blue. Having said that we love the battleship-like Meteor Grey. The latter in particular looks great paired with the black design pack (£750), which de-chromes the car in favour of gloss black accents.

The estate is a handsome shape too, and continues the Audi-esque theme with just a hint of RS6 cool about it.
