Limited-run BMW M4 Competition x Kith revealed

BMW has partnered with American fashion brand Kith to create a limited-run M4 Competition

The all-new G82 M4 Competition was revealed just a few weeks ago, but BMW has already revealed a limited-edition variant, partnering with New York-based fashion brand Kith. The performance coupe has received a number of subtle design changes both inside and out, and can be pre-ordered now with just 150 units available worldwide.

The fashion-focused special edition follows in the footsteps of the M2 Competition by Futura 2000, adding unique design touches to the new G82 M4 Competition. Though the additions aren’t immediately obvious at first glance, they become more clear up close.

The collaboration marks the first time BMW has modified its badge, with an additional band surrounding the bonnet roundel in the trademark blue and red M colours. The rear M4 Competition badge is also replaced with a black ‘Kith’ logo complete with M stripes.

Perhaps the most notable exterior change is the Kith carbonfibre roof, with a large Kith x BMW M logo woven into the roof structure underneath the resin topcoat. Though the design study is finished in the E30 M3’s famous Cinnabar Red, road cars are limited to matte black, silver and white, referencing the most popular colours available on the first-generation M3.

All M4 Competition x Kith models are equipped to a high level, with carbon ceramic brakes, staggered 19-20-inch forged wheels in either black of bi-colour finishes, carbonfibre-backed bucket seats, the exterior carbonfibre package, uprated Laserlight headlights all standard fit.

Inside is where you’ll find the most significant changes though, with Kith lettering embossed into the head restraints and centre console, with that same Kith x BMW M logo illuminated on the headrests. Buyers can also opt to have a more bold cabin with the inclusion of blue and red inserts on the front and rear seats.

There are no performance enhancements over standard as one might expect on this sort of collaboration, but the standard M4 Competition’s 3-litre twin-turbocharged S58 straight-six sending 503bhp and 480lb ft of torque to the ground for a 3.9sec 0-62mph and 180mph top speed (when equipped with the M Pro Package) is plenty.

If you miss out on the car itself, Kith has released a range of BMW M x Kith merchandise to help tide you over, but for those of which only a fashion brand collaboration will do, the order books are now open now, hitting the road in summer 2021.
