Genesis GV60 Magma spied – 600bhp Porsche Macan Turbo rival sheds its disguise
The Genesis GV60 Magma has been spied testing with less disguise, revealing its more aggressive production bodywork
Genesis’ high-performance Magma brand is one step closer to hitting the road, as prototypes of the upcoming GV60 Magma shed some of their disguise. This is our best look yet at the upcoming 600bhp Porsche Macan Turbo rival from Korea.
Where previous prototypes wore black sheeting that made seeing any distinguishing features impossible, these new images show a car in its production bodywork with wrapping, revealing the new look to a much further extent. At the front we can see the GV60 Magma will get its own bespoke bumper, with an aggressive splitter element and squared-off edges. It does differ from the concept car slightly, with a larger lower inlet area whose upper edge is now higher.
What has carried over are the subtle arch extensions, with GT3 RS-style winglets for more efficient wheelarch air extraction. We can also see that for some reason, the charge port is open and there are lumps of cladding on the doors and above the charge port. We suspect this is part of the testing gear or disguise, rather than something we’ll see on the production car. At the rear the spoiler is much more subtle than the concept, though we expect to see a more aggressive item on the production car. There’s a pseudo diffuser element at the bottom of the rear bumper, as well as aero elements connecting to the rear arches, as on the fronts.
Behind the fairly standard Genesis wheels – we expect sportier items on the production car – we can see brakes that are a dead ringer for the 400mm (front), 380mm (rear), four-piston (front) items found on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, with which we expect the GV60 Magma to be closely related.
Indeed it’s expected that the GV60 Magma will share its underpinnings with evo’s favourite EV to date, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. It’s likely to receive the same dual-motor 601bhp (641bhp in boost mode) powertrain as its Hyundai relation which should equate to a 0-62mph time in the region of 3.4sec and a top speed of around 160mph.
However, don’t expect a direct clone of the Ioniq 5 N as the Magma model will have its own specific character to differentiate between the two brands. There’s no guarantee a version of the Hyundai’s simulated gear shifts and engine sounds will carry over, even if the motors and trick suspension does. Via hardware and software specific to the Genesis model we’re expecting it to be aimed slightly less towards the out-and-out performance-orientated driver, with more of a rapid GT feel.
It's difficult to glean much about the GV60 Magma’s interior from our spy pictures but the Concept added some sporting touches to the GV60’s well-built and relatively opulent cabin. The standard seats were replaced with some orange-coloured bucket items and there was a plethora of diamond stitching – in orange, naturally – along with an orange flash at the 12 o’clock position on the steering wheel. At minimum, we ought to see some more extroverted colourways and materials and some sportier seats for better support during hard driving.

Genesis GV60 Magma release date and price
The GV60 Magma is expected to make its debut towards the end of the year, with more Genesis performance models set to follow. The firm is currently developing Magma models across its entire range, as it also looks to go racing at Le Mans with Genesis Magma Racing and the GMR001 hypercar.
What will the GV60 Magma cost? Well, the current list price for its closest rival, the Porsche Macan Turbo EV, is £96,900, while the most expensive GV60 you can currently get is the £68,455, 483bhp Sport Plus model. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, for context, starts from £65,010. We can infer therefore that the GV60 Magma will be a lot more than the Hyundai, but undercut the Porsche. A starting figure in the region of £80k doesn’t sound far off but we’ll know for sure once the GV60 Magma is revealed before the end of 2025.
