Jaguar XE Landmark Edition adds value to British compact exec

XE Landmark Edition bundles together popular options on Jag’s XE compact executive challenger

Jaguar has revealed details of a new special edition XE called the Landmark Edition. Based on the XE R-Sport trim, the Landmark Edition bundles a combination of tech features that are usually optional on R-Sport models, along with some unique styling features only available on this limited run car.

Unique to the Landmark Edition are a new set of 18-inch wheels, complementing the R-Sport’s more aggressive bumpers and black detailing. Exterior colours are limited to three, Yulong White, Firenze Red and Santorini Black.

Inside, Jaguar has fitted the larger Touch-Pro infotainment system as standard, while Xenon headlights and front and rear parking sensors are now also standard fit. Interior trim is available in black with contrasting white stitching or two-tone red and black.

The XE Landmark is available with most of JLR’s four-cylinder ‘Ingenium’ petrol and diesel engines, with only the entry-level 161bhp diesel and 296bhp petrol engines not offered. Otherwise, all ‘Ingenium’ engines are now fitted with particulate filters, thanks to a continued tightening of emissions laws.

We have praised the XE for its engaging driving experience in the past, the car driving with more finesse than rivals from BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz. Unfortunately, as a package, the XE’s tight rear seats and lack of an estate option have kept it off the shopping list for some buyers.

The recent discontinuation of the supercharged V6 XE S has reduced the scope of the range, as although the model has been replaced by a new four-cylinder 300 Sport, its lack of a six-cylinder engine is a definite disadvantage. Especially considering its price point above that of rivals like the BMW 340i M Sport and Audi S4.

Priced from £36,995, the XE Landmark Edition is £2200 more than an equivalently engined R-Sport model and is on sale now.
