Ares Performance reveals 641bhp Lamborghini Huracán

Italian tuner displays its fastest car in London

Ares Performance has presented a modified version of the Lamborghini Huracán at its new Piccadilly showroom in London. The Italian tuning house has managed to extract an extra 39bhp from the car’s 5.2-litre V10 engine, bringing peak power up to 641bhp.

The power hike comes thanks to an ECU remap and fitment of a titanium sports exhaust system. The results help shed two-tenths from the Huracán’s 0-62mph time, bringing it down to a claimed 3sec dead. Top speed also grows from Lamborghini’s quoted 202mph to a quoted 205mph.

Also on the Huracán’s mod-list is an Ares Design body kit, comprising a new, more aggressively styled front bumper, prominent side skirts and restyled rear bumper. The exhausts also gain a single surround for each side, and the car sits on five-spoke 20- and 21-inch (front/rear) forged alloy wheels.

For those who think the standard Huracán’s design is a little tame for a Lamborghini, Ares’ body kit may appeal. But those who appreciate its more restrained aesthetics, the finished look of Ares’ car might be a bit too busy. Ares does claim that the new shape helps to better aero-efficiency, however.

Inside, the situation is much the same. Panels that featured smooth, single colour leather in standard form now feature slats and stripes of contrasting colours. The cream stripes that surround the launch car’s door speakers, for example, are a bit too Predator for our liking. Then again, with Italian Nubuk and Nappa leather, handcrafted artisan panels and precious metals scattered across the cabin, there’s no denying the luxuriousness of Ares’ work.

For those who’d prefer a less brash Huracán but want the extra power, Ares can offer its engine modifications without the body kit – the pricing of which is yet to be confirmed. But for those who want the full package, a fully converted car costs £259,000. This is a substantial £72,240 more than the list value of a Huracán – about the same price as a brand new 991 Porsche 911 Carrera

That price is certainly steep, especially when we consider that the standard Huracán isn’t exactly lacking with its unbeatable point-to-point pace and masses of character. But then again, for those who have the cash to splash, the added exclusivity of Ares’ modified Huracán may enhance its appeal.
