Lamborghini Huracan (2014-2019) review – performance and 0-60 times

Exciting, exotic and eccentric, the Huracan appeals on character as much as talent

Evo rating
  • V10 powertrain, balance, driver involvement
  • Lacks the handling finesse seen elsewhere in the class

The Huracán may lack a turbo or two, but performance from the naturally aspirated V10 engine is plenty for some pretty astounding performance figures. The rear drive LP 580-2 models hit 62 mph in 3.6 seconds, while the all-wheel drive LP 610-2 knocks another 0.4 of a second off, lowering the time to 3.2 seconds. Spyder versions add 0.2 of a second to the time of the relevant hardtops, while the new Performantè dispatches the sprint in just 2.9 seconds.

We can credit these times to an impressive launch control function (or ‘thrust mode’ in Lambo speak) and quick shifting dual-clutch gearbox. Shared with the R8, the ‘Lamborghini Doppia Frizione’ gearbox is a polished and efficient sidekick and definitely a progression from Lamborghini’s older single clutch unit still used in the Aventador. At full chat, the LP 610-4 and Performante’ models are claimed to just break the 200mph barrier, with the 580-2 models topping out at 199mph.
