Lotus launches track-oriented digital dashboard for Elise and Exige

Lotus has revealed the all-new ‘Digital Instrument Pack’ for selected Elise and Exige models

A Lotus of almost any kind is an excellent trackday choice. However, you’ll struggle to find one with the detailed data recording abilities of some of today’s machines. Available for certain Elise and Exige models, the British marque has launched a replacement digital dash to enhance your trackday experience.

You’ll find a G-meter buried deep inside the menus of even the most unassuming cars of today, with lap timers and various other track-oriented gadgets not far away. Drop inside a Lotus and you’ll find no such features. However, the brand has devised a solution for those that feel left out.

Designed to be ‘plug and play’ with Elise and V6 Exige models built from 2008 onwards, Lotus has developed a new digital instrument cluster to help you make the most of your time on track. Preloaded with 4127 circuits from around the globe, the system will use GPS to recognise when you’re close to a track, allowing you to input start/finish line coordinates for recording lap times.

The unit will also give you lap performance indicators that can be viewed in real time on the 6-inch display, or after the fact by uploading the recorded data to a computer. The new dash even has support for a video camera, allowing you to record footage of your laps with ease.

Unlike some aftermarket offerings, this instrument pack is designed to fit seamlessly into the dashboard of the aforementioned models, replacing the original instrumentation. Though a Lotus start-up screen comes as standard, there’s even the option to switch it to whatever you would like.

The system will set you back £1470 (excluding fitting), with Lotus providing a two-year warranty should you have it fitted by an official retailer.
