Maserati Grecale review – MPG and running costs

Four-cylinder models get mild-hybrid tech for respectable fuel economy, with the Trofeo dropping into mid-to-low 20s

Evo rating

Thanks to four-cylinder engines and hybrid assistance, the Grecale GT and Modena are more frugal than any variant of the Porsche Macan, including the entry-level 2-litre model. Maserati’s claimed figures are 32.1mpg for the GT and 31.4mpg for the Modena, comparing favourably to the 28mpg achieved by the four-pot Macan.

The Trofeo, with its pre-chamber ignition and cylinder deactivation systems, posts an official figure of 25.2mpg, which is just about achievable in real-world testing. That’s slightly better than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, despite the Maserati’s extra power and bulk.

With CO2 emissions of 254g/km, the Trofeo just avoids the maximum Vehicle Excise Duty cost, with the GT and Modena slotting in the band below.
