Mercedes C63 AMG Edition 507

Mercedes-Benz has given the C63 a power increase, pushing the 6.2-litre V8 to over 500bhp.

Mercedes-Benz has released details of a new more powerful C63 AMG model, known as the ‘Edition 507’, ahead of the official unveiling at the Geneva motor show in March.

Power has been increased to 500bhp (Edition 507 referring to the car’s PS figure), thanks to AMG working it’s magic on the internals of the 6.2-litre V8. Using forged pistons and lightweight crankshaft, similar to those used in the SLS, an extra 49bhp has been liberated from the V8. The brakes are the same upgraded system fitted to the Performance Pack.

The Edition 507 also gets an aluminium bonnet, borrowed from the Black Series, complete with two large openings for added cooling. Exclusive to the Edition 507 are the 19-inch AMG light-alloy cross-spoke wheels. Buyers can also specify the optional Magno Platinum paint scheme.

All these changes shave two-tenths of a second off the 0-62mph time, now at 4.2secs, and allow the AMG to hit a limited 174mph – the same as a Performance Pack-equipped C63. The model will be available in coupe, saloon and estate form, although prices have yet to be confirmed.
