Pagani C10 prototype spied – Horacio's next chapter is on its way

The next Pagani hypercar, expected to be called the C10, has been spotted undergoing testing

Following the announcement of the new Pagani C10’s September 12 debut, we’ve now been given our first glimpse of the new V12 hypercar undergoing testing around the roads of Modena. The new hypercar isn’t expected to deviate too far from Horatio’s preferred combination of a mid-engined V12 power unit and carbonfibre chassis, but as the Huayra represented a leap over the original Zonda, so too do we predict the C10 could represent just as big of a leap.

Very little is known officially about the new model, but thanks to new images having surfaced of the C10 prototype, we can now see clear elements that connect it with its predecessors. This begins with its basic proportions which look to more closely resemble the original Zonda’s more teutonic blockier aesthetic, rather than the Huayra’s more flowing design (it is named after the Andean god of wind after all).

This is reiterated in the C10’s rear end, which shares the central exhaust position with all Paganis, but includes a more direct translation of the Zonda’s rear graphics and diffuser layout. The prototype doesn’t feature a rear wing, instead we expect it to take a leaf out of the Huayra’s book and feature active movable aero instead.

As has been a key design feature of both the Zonda and Huayra, the cabin looks to be segmented from the main body, with the glass and roof likely to visually form a single volume – giving it that canopy-like appearance.

As for the engine, Pagani has not confirmed any specifics but it’s likely that its partnership with AMG will continue, despite the disappearance of the V12 engine from AMG’s range. Mercedes-Benz do still utilise the iconic twin-turbo V12 in its Maybach products, and will continue to do so, locking in the supply for Pagani.

With a few months still to go until it’s unveiled in full, the C10 should bring Pagani back into the hypercar limelight after years of only revealing derivatives of both the Huayra and Zonda.
