Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak video

Video of Sebastien Loeb climbing Mont Ventoux in his Pikes Peak ready Peugeot 208 T16

It’s one of the more drawn-out bits of motorsport PR in recent history, but when the footage is this nape prickling, we can tolerate that. Peugeot’s latest Pikes Peak tease is a video of its 208 T16 being threaded up Mont Ventoux – a favourite evo test location – with rally supremo Sebastien Loeb at the wheel.

With a pedal camera that harks back to Walter Rohrl’s fancy footwork in an Audi Quattro and the inevitable appearance of the 405 T16 Pikes Peak challenger of 25 years ago, it’s fairly evocative stuff and shot in typically swish Red Bull style. It might be the latest leg of a finely tuned PR campaign, but it’s hard not to be hooked.

The Peugeot 208 T16 uses an 875bhp twin-turbo 3.2-litre V6 engine and will complete 0-62 in a startling 1.8sec. You can read the full tech story here.
