Porsche Cayenne S Platinum Edition - Extra kit before all-new model arrives

Expect a flurry of run-out models ahead of the all-new Cayenne's debut

There's a new Porsche Cayenne on the way soon, but in the meantime we can expect a run of special edition models like the new Porsche Cayenne S Platinum Edition.

Available on both the Cayenne S and Cayenne S Diesel, Platinum Edition models justify their existence with a range of optional colours, styling additions and equipment tweaks. Both are available to order now, with deliveries beginning in the spring.

Power remains unchanged - so the petrol-powered Cayenne S retains its 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged V6 with 414bhp, while the Cayenne S Diesel Platinum Edition makes use of a 380bhp, 4.1-litre V8 capable of somehow squeezing more than 35 miles from every gallon.

Black or white paintwork is standard but familiar Cayenne shades like Jet Black, Mahogany, Purpurite, Carrara White and Rhodium Silver are all available. Gloss black exterior details are also standard, while wheel arch extensions are body colour.

Where does platinum come in, we hear you ask? That'll be the colour of the 21-inch satin-finish alloy wheels, though Porsche won't let you forget which model you've chosen that easily, as Platinum Edition lettering is embossed into the front sill plates. It's complemented by Porsche crests in the headrests, while the seats themselves are eight-way adjustable leather and Alcantara-trimmed jobs like those in the Cayenne GTS.

The headlights are Bi-xenon units with Porsche Dynamic Light System - which adjusts the range of the dipped beam depending on speed and swivel the beams in corners - while Park Assist, Porsche Communication Management infotainment and Bose surround-sound audio are all standard kit.

Pricing begins at £64,802 for the Cayenne S Platinum Edition and £66,847 for the Cayenne S Diesel Platinum Edition - £1537 and £1352 more expensive respectively than the standard models.
