Porsche Cayman Black Edition – any colour you like…

Latest special edition Cayman piles on kit, and paints it all black

Porsche has expanded its range of all-black special editions by inducting the Cayman sports coupe into the Black Edition lineup.

We award no prizes to those of you who guess the car’s primary and sole colour scheme, but that shade is also found throughout the part-leather cabin trim.

Thankfully, a healthy equipment roster sheds light in the darkness, not least the standard bi-xenon headlights and the glint of aluminium should optional side window trims be specified.

The Black Edition gets the Cayman’s entry-level 2.7-litre, 275PS flat-six, capable of propelling the car to 62mph in 5.7sec and on to 165mph.

Outside, a set of 20-inch Carrera Classic alloy wheels manage to escape the light-absorbing hue with a silver finish.  Leading you further from the dark is a standard Porsche Communication Management system with satellite navigation, while rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, parking sensors and a Sport Design steering wheel further embellish the car’s specification.

Air conditioning, stop-start, and Porsche Stability Management remain standard, as with all Cayman models. Customers will also be invited to experience their cars in a complimentary course at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone.

The price of darkness is £45,989. That’s £6295 beyond a standard Cayman 2.7, but expected given the increase in equipment. Other colours are of course available…
