Radical SR10 XXR revealed as 574bhp/ton track weapon

UK-based Radical Motorsport has given its most popular model an overhaul with the sharpened SR10 XXR

Since its launch in 2020, the Radical SR10 has fast become the firm’s most popular model, with over 100 examples sold. Three years on, the Cambridgeshire-based manufacturer has given it an overhaul for 2023 by introducing the SR10 XXR featuring updates to its aerodynamics package, powertrain and more. The new model is available to order now with production beginning in the spring.

Revealed just a month after its overhauled SR3 model, the SR10 XXR receives the same selection of changes, with all updates aiming to future-proof the model. In order to keep its existing customers satisfied, the majority of these updates will also be available to current SR10 owners via the optional XXR Evolution upgrade package.

At its heart is Radical’s Ford EcoBoost-based 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, fitted with a bespoke Garrett turbocharger, unique induction system and engine management systems. These help it produce 425bhp and 380lb ft of torque. A new cooling system, forged pistons and connecting rods, and a bespoke dry-sump lubrication system are included too, offering improved reliability for a reduction in overall running costs.

Paired with a GT3-derived Hewland six-speed transmission and an incredible 725kg weight figure, the SR10 XXR archives a staggering 2.4sec 0-62mph time – power-to-weight stands at 574bhp/ton, higher than a McLaren 765LT.

Alongside unique lightweight wheels and new DRL lights, the XXR also receives a new aero setup, with the same LMP-inspired central fin as on the SR3 XXR improving high speed stability. Front louvres are also new for 2023, with a carbonfibre splitter and diffuser package available at an extra cost. The result of these changes is an impressive peak lateral G figure of 2.3.

Joe Anwyll, Radical Motorsport CEO, said: 'Our fastest-selling model in our history, and a favourite with US customers in particular, we’ve been working hard to cherry-pick the best XXR model line upgrades and adding them to our best-selling model, the SR10. As well as some impressive styling updates to the bodywork, the addition of the ‘central fin’ and front louvres have proven to increase the SR10 XXR’s usability, allowing drivers to extract even more of the car’s mind-blowing potential.'

Order books for the Radical SR10 XXR are open now, with first cars entering production this spring.
