Volkswagen XL Sport concept video: Paris motor show 2014

Volkswagen has surprised in Paris with its bike engined XL Sport concept

Volkswagen has surprised the motoring world by unveiling a 167mph bike engined XL Sport concept. Revealed in Paris, the XL1 based concept is fitted with a modified version of the world’s most powerful 2-cylinder engine, borrowed from the Ducati 1199 Superleggera.

Producing a substantial 197bhp and based on a platform that weighs 890kg, the XL Sport can accelerate from 0-62 in 5.7sec, sending power through a seven-speed DSG gearbox and revving as high as 11,000rpm.

Growing in length and width compared with the XL1, the XL Sport is 4291mm long and 1847mm wide. It’s 1152mm tall and has a longer wheelbase too, giving it a wider footprint most likely to improve handling and stability.
