Lego Technic Bugatti Chiron threatens to devour hours of free time

One of the world’s most complex cars is now a complex Lego Technic set, with over 3600 pieces

Lego has released its latest collaboration with a supercar manufacturer, this time pairing up with the industry’s most illustrious marque, Bugatti. In a similar vein to the Lego Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS, which did a superb job of keeping us entertained for far longer than things like this should, the Bugatti Chiron has now been immortalised in the form of Denmark’s famous children’s toy.

Being a Lego Technic, this Bugatti Chiron is far more than just a simple static model, as it includes all sorts of working mechanical components that sit under the body. Some of these elements include a detailed re-creation of the W16 engine, complete with moving pistons. Meanwhile, further back the real car’s active rear wing is also movable.

Inside, the cabin presents a faithful re-creation of the production car, featuring the Chiron's dual clutch gearbox complete with working paddles. With more than 3600 pieces in the set, the Technic Bugatti Chiron has over 900 more than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and that was hardly Duplo-simple to construct.

Each of the cars will have a unique serial number situated under the front hood. Only accessible from the unique speed key, it will also allow you to raise or lower the active wing remotely.

With more moving parts than a small city car (probably), the Lego Technic Bugatti Chiron promises to eat up a whole lot of your spare time, but with a price tag of £329, we’d be disappointed if it didn’t. On sale now, and in limited numbers, if the Technic GT3 RS is anything to go by, chances are you’ll have more luck being able to buy the £2.5m real thing.
