Pagani Zonda R on-track video

Roger Green pilots Pagani's track only hypercar, the 739bhp Zonda R. Video and great noise here

Pagani Zonda R on-track video

The Zonda R is Pagani's ultimate car. With a 6.0-litre V12 engine boasting 739bhp and 524lb ft of torque, it’s a proper hypercar. And weighing just a ton, it has a power-to-weight ratio that pummels the Bugatti Veyron’s, while claimed performance is equally eye-widening – 0-62mph in just 3.0sec and a top speed of over 230mph. It also holds a production car record at the Nurburgring, lapping the famous Nordschleife in just 6min47sec. Read the story and see the video here. All that performance and madness can only be utilised on circuit, though; like its key foe, the Ferrari FXX, the Zonda R is a track weapon only, with no road use allowed. That didn’t stop us having a go, though – evo’s Roger Green took the c£1.4million track toy around Spain’s Ascari circuit, with some on-board video action above. And be sure to turn the sound right up (or pop a good pair of headphones in) – it sounds sensational. See the Zonda R at Top Gear TV’s Dunsfold circuit here Read about the Zonda R’s stunning Ring lap record here
