Subaru Impreza Turbo gallery

It's time to say goodbye to the Impreza in the UK, and to mourn the loss of this icon we've got a gallery of some of the best models

It’s been with us since 1994, but Subaru has recently announced that it has stopped importing the WRX STI into the UK, and has no plans to revive the model - better known as the Impreza - in the foreseeable future.

Its status as one of the all-time great performance cars was cemented in the late 1990s and early 2000s when the Japanese saloon car scooped up a number of WRC titles, with greats such as Colin McRae and Richard Burns at the wheel.

The company recently cut the price of its WRX STI model in the UK to £26,995, but extremely low demand due to high CO2 emissions and competition from ever-quickening hot hatches has killed the fast Impreza in the UK for good.

1. Impreza 2000 Turbo

The first quick Impreza was introduced to the UK in 1994, the 2000 Turbo. An instant hit.



2. Impreza 'McRae edition'

Launched in 1995 to celebrate Subaru and Colin McRae's WRC win. Just 200 built.



3. Impreza Turbo

The Impreza Turbo got a big update in 1997, as the model grew in popularity - helped by success in rallying.

RB5 model launched to celebrate the arrival of WRC driver Richard Burns. Just 444 built.

Prodrive developed its own special edition Impreza due to the success of the Subaru rally car, the 276bhp P1.

All-new 'bug-eye' Impreza launched in 2000, WRX and STI models remained strong sellers.

2003 facelift improved the looks, although mechanically not much had changed.
