Alfa Romeo Giulietta prices announced

Alfa Romeo prices its smart Giulietta hot hatch, and it's cheaper than key rivals

Alfa Romeo has priced its new Giulietta hatchback. Rather impressively, it undercuts the Ford Focus, a less prestigious rival that’s down on equipment. The Giulietta is a pretty good thing, too. Read our Giulietta Multiair Turbo and Giulietta Cloverleaf reviews here. Our current pick of the bunch – the 1.4-litre Multiair (in 168bhp tune) will set you back £19,495 in Lusso trim, £20,795 in more upmarket Veloce spec. The range-topping (for now, anyway) Cloverleaf will cost £24,495 – a few hundred quid less than a five-door Golf GTI which has nearly 30bhp less. There’s also a 118bhp version of the 1.4 Multiair petrol, which kicks off the Giulietta range at £16,995, and a couple of diesels, a 104bhp 1.6-litre (£17,895) and 168bhp 2-litre (£21,195). All models get air con and an abundance of airbags as well as Alfa Romeo’s DNA dynamics system and trick Q2 electronic diff, which helps eradicate understeer and transforms the car’s front end when switched on. Every Giulietta except the Cloverleaf gets start-stop technology, too. Click here to peruse evo’s latest new car reviews
