Ruf's Porsche 911 Targa, the Roadster

Ruf makes a Porsche 911 Targa alternative, with its 552bhp Roadster. Interesting roof, too

Ruf has revealed its new Roadster. It’s inspired by the 1967 Porsche 911 Targa, and offers similar flexibility with its open-top options.  There are two light carbonfibre roof panels, both removable, while the ‘soft’ rear window (made of a three-layer polyglass) can be open or closed. So the car can be enjoyed completely open, completely closed, with just the roof panels removed or with the roof in place and rear window open. All in all, it’s more intriguing than the current Porsche 911 Targa and more aesthetically appealing, too. The Ruf Roadster is hustled along by a six-cylinder boxer engine available in naturally aspirated (395bhp) and turbocharged (552bhp) tunes. A six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive are standard, while a twin-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive are options. Porsche's Targa can only be had with AWD. Prices will kick off at 195,000 euros (£170,000) while an electric eRuf version is planned, too.
