Nissan’s 2011 Geneva motor show star was the Esflow. It’s an all-electric sports car, and with rear-wheel drive and futuristic 370Z-like looks, it could pave the way for the Big Zed’s replacement.
 
The Esflow’s powertrain comes from the European Car of the Year, the Nissan Leaf, with a combination of batteries and electric motors sending 107bhp and 206lb ft to the back axle. Sounds modest, but with the electric motors making the torque available from zero revs, 0-62mph takes less than five seconds.
 
And while its styling is typical concept car fare – the side mirrors are exchanged for rear-view cameras, for instance – there’s certainly much about the Esflow that’s plausible. Nissan is undecided on whether a similar car will make production. We hope it does.
