Skoda Fabia vRS 2000 speedster concept car

Skoda unveils a shock Fabia vRS convertible, the rally inspired Fabia 2000 speedster concept

Skoda has unveiled its stunning vRS 2000 design concept at the 30th annual GTI-Treffen show at Worthersee in Austria. The futuristic roadster is sure to cause quite a stir, and will consolidate Skoda’s efforts to cultivate a desirable image.  The vRS 2000 inherits its menacing stance from the Fabia Super 2000 rally car on which it’s based. The four passengers once fitting comfortably inside will certainly get a wind-in-the-hair experience due to the shallow windscreen and side glass, which is frameless. Four-door roadster rally cars are not something that you see every day, so hats off to Skoda’s design team for pushing the boundaries. The car was built specially for the show and although it is only a design exercise, styling on road cars has a habit of borrowing from concepts such as this. The car is being displayed along with the dominant Fabia Super 2000 rally car and the Fabia Monte Carlo special edition on Skoda’s expansive 600 square metre display. Extra exhibits to entertain fans include a rally simulation experience and remote-controlled model racing. Other cars to make an appearance at the Reifnitz show include the 500bhp Audi A1 Clubsport quattro and the 232bhp VW Golf GTI Edition 35, built to commemorate 35 years of the GTIClick here for our Skoda Fabia vRS review
