London Motorexpo Gallery II

A second gallery from London's Motorexpo - Nissan GT-R, 370Z, McLaren F1 car

London’s free motor show – the Motorexpo – opened today at Canary Wharf, and thanks to some (almost) summery weather it was attracting a throng of visitors.

While there’s no headline-grabbing world premieres or new metal, there’s plenty worth seeing. The Tesla Roadster (tuned by Brabus, no less) is available for test drives and was amusingly sat there burbling to the sound of a Merc V8 – sounds which Brabus fits to make up the electric motor’s lack of sound. It certainly had onlookers foxed.

There’s also a public debut for the BMW 5-series Gran Turismo (albeit in a bouncer-controlled room with a camera ban) in production form, a car that looks more conventional and smarter in the metal than pictures suggest.

UK debuts aplenty too, in the shape of the Corvette ZR-1, Cadillac CTS-V, Nissan’s GT-R and 370Z, Aston’s DBS Volante and V12 Vantage, Jaguar’s XFR and XKR and the new Land Rover and Range Rovers, which you can sample for free on a challenging course.

The London Motorexpo runs from June 8-14 2009 and is open 10-6 daily (11-5 on Sunday). It’s the UK’s biggest free car show, and is well worth a trip along – it’s right outside Canary Wharf tube and DLR stations. If you can’t make it, or want a taster, check out the gallery below.
