Mercedes' new CLK will hit UK showrooms in June this year. The coupe will be initially offered in CLK240, CLK320 and CLK500 variants, with 170bhp, 218bhp and 306bhp respectively. Later in the year, a CLK55 AMG will join the line-up and promises monumental performance from its 367bhp V8. The official figure is 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds.

The new CLK is slightly bigger than the outgoing model and is based on the current C-class platform. Mercedes claims to have improved body rigidity by 40 per cent and says that the C-class- based suspension has been tweaked to deliver a much more rewarding drive. Prices should start at around £26,000, rising to just under £60,000 for the AMG model.
