New Ford Fiesta ST prices
Ford prices the new 178bhp, 1.6-litre Fiesta ST Ecoboost, and it's set to undercut the Peugeot 208 GTI and Renault Clio 200 Turbo
Prices for the new Ford Fiesta ST will start from £16,995 when it is released this April. This places the entry-level hot Ford at a considerable price advantage to rivals from Peugeot and Renault.
In base ST trim, the Fiesta will come with sportier bumpers than standard, 17in alloy wheels, 15mm lower sports suspension and tinted glass. Inside, it benefits from Recaro seats, DAB digital radio and air conditioning. An extra £1000 will spec the car up to ST2 trim, adding LED headlights, keyless start, part-leather seats and automatic air conditioning.
All Fiesta ST models will be powered by Ford’s turbocharged 1.6-litre Ecoboost petrol engine, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. It boasts 178bhp and 177lb ft, enough to ensure a 6.9sec 0-62mph time and 136mph top speed. Economy tops 40mpg while CO2 emissions are a claimed 138g/km.
Prices for the ST’s closest rivals, the Peugeot 208 GTI and Renaultsport Clio 200 Turbo – both using 197bhp 1.6-litre turbos – are expected to be upwards of £18,000 when released later this year, though the latter boasts a twin-clutch gearbox. This allows the Fiesta ST to follow in its older brother’s footsteps, the Focus ST, in offering great value for a performance hot hatch. The acclaimed sporty Focus is currently more than £4000 less than an equivalent, though much less powerful VW Golf GTI.
The hot Fiesta will be offered as a three-door only in the UK, whilst the US will receive a five-door option.
