The first Chevrolet Corvette was launched in 1953 at the GM Motorama show in New York. At the time it was a revolutionary step for the manufacturer due to the lightweight glassfibre body. Ever since the model has gone through several transformations, with the newest model being the most advanced ever. Here's our gallery of the Corvette's evolution through the years.

Its journey currently culminates with the all-new C7 Stingray, so far unveiled in standard and hardcore Z06 forms. We've driven the 'basic' C7 Vette in the UK (Corvette Stingray video review here), though with 455bhp, it's hardly lacking in its simplest form...
