Mercedes-Benz SLS GT3 45th anniversary model

Mercedes-Benz has created a new special edition '45th anniversary' SLS AMG GT3 racer.

Marking the 45th anniversary of AMG, Mercedes-Benz has released a special edition version of the SLS AMG GT3 racing car. Just five will be built, all finished in the new designo magno graphite matt paint finish – and built with personal input from Record DTM champion and AMG brand ambassador Bernd Schneider.

Mercedes is aiming the new model at collectors, following on from the limited edition SL65 AMG that was unveiled at the New York motor show earlier in the year.

It’s a true track car, with most of the exterior panels made from carbon fibre reinforced plastics, as well as a fully stripped out interior. Under the bonnet is the 6.3-litre race-spec normally aspirated V8 engine, which is fitted with a helping hand from Schneider – which is complimented by a signed numbered plaque in the cockpit.

Priced from €446,250 (£358,499 at current exchange rates), the SLS GT3 45th Anniversary edition will come with the option of an on-track coaching session at an AMG driving event.
