Tuned Aston Martin Q editions revealed

Aston Martin shows off the potential of its Q personalisation with four show cars for Pebble Beach

Aston Martin will showcase a quartet of cars fettled by its special operations ‘Q by Aston Martin’ division at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours event.

Each vehicle has been developed to specifications drawn up by Los Angeles-based Galpin Aston Martin and will be presented to guests and potential customers at the exclusive Aston Martin Estate overlooking Monterey Bay.

The four vehicles feature a range of unique touches designed to give buyers an insight into the almost endless range of bespoke alterations Q by Aston Martin can carry out.

The Q by Aston Martin Vanquish Coupe features a striking shade of pearlescent Abor Orange paintwork exclusive to the Q program. Exterior details are formed from a special carbonfibre, the weave double the usual size to give the parts a more distinctive look.

Orange touches continue inside the Obsidian Black leather-swathed interior. A new printed leather design dubbed ‘Helix’ features on the door cards and along the centre of the headlining panel, apparently influenced by ‘experimental rapid prototyped furniture’.

Q’s take on the Vanquish Volante is a little more subtle, combining Frosted Silver exterior paint with graphite-finish ten-spoke alloy wheels and Chestnut Tan leather covering interior surfaces. The seats feature a fluted pattern formed from authentic equestrian leather, which also makes an appearance on the car’s bespoke luggage set.

The most notable aspect of the Q by Aston Martin DB9 Volante is its blush pearl leather interior – a vivid shade of cherry blossom pink.  A Piano Ice Mocha dashboard insert complements the Ashen Blonde exterior finish, while a pink rhodochrosite stone is inlaid in a special Q buckle badge set into the console.

Last of the four Q commissions is a V12 Vantage S coated in amethyst paintwork with Monterey Pearl – light blue – front grille and rear diffuser inserts. Like the Vanquish Coupe, every interior surface is wrapped in Obsidian Black leather, this time punctuated with Vivid Purple leather details and a collection of carbon-clad minor controls.

Aston Martin says customers are encouraged to ‘make their automotive dreams reality’ and ‘let their imaginations soar’ through the Q service. Whether that involves bright pink leather or inlaid stones, the Pebble Beach cars demonstrate just a fraction of the features available through the service.  The four cars will appear at the Aston Martin Estate at Pebble Beach on August 17.
