Performance and 0-60mph time

BMW offers just one petrol and three diesel engines with its new X1, all at different ends of the performance scale. The 2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine is good for a 7.4-secs 0-60mph time but it’s the 2-litre, 227bhp xDrive25d that tops the sprinting charts with a time of 6.6seconds. The slowest of the bunch is the front-wheel drive X1 sDrive18d, which with its front-wheel drive setup and 148bhp, manages a 0-60mph time of 9.2 seconds.
