Lighter, more fuel efficient, fresh-looking and likely to continue the success of previous models

Ford has released images and details of its all-new Fiesta, and the omens look good for the company to build on the 12-million sales already notched up since launch in 1976.

The all-new Fiesta is more fuel efficient, service friendly, stronger and more protective (but lighter) and, says the company, has that 'big car' feel, due to innovative design and quality component use.

A six-series range will initially be available: Studio, Style, Style Plus, Zetec, Zetec S and Titanium. Four 16-valve Duratec petrol and two Duratorq TDCi diesel engine choices will be available, including the 120 PS Zetec S powerplant.

Three-door and five-door models will be available from October 2008.
