evo Car pictures of the year 2018

We’re celebrating the year’s end with 16 of our best pictures from 2018

The new year is now upon us, but before we look ahead to 2019 we thought we’d look back at some of our best shots from the last 12 months. Not just content with writing about what it’s like to drive the world’s most exciting cars in some incredible places, our world-class photography helps you dissolve further into the tales that we bring back in the creation of this magazine.

The sheer variety of new performance cars and the story they tell has given us a treasure trove of amazing images to bring to this gathering, from a three-cylinder VW Up GTI on some of the most spectacular roads in the South of France, to the incredible McLaren Senna in the depths of Scotland, this year has been about diversity, rather than adhering to just the supercar playbook.

We had a surprise upset in the full-size hot hatchback class, with the Honda Civic Type R consolidating its place at the top of the class by holding back the new Renaultsport Megane, but we also said goodbye to the Subaru WRX STI from the UK, a car that seems to be increasingly made redundant by the staggeringly good hot hatchbacks like those mentioned above.

But that’s not all, as there’s also an all-wheel drive Ferrari, Bentley’s new Continental GT and our exclusive, amazing drive in the Porsche 919 Le Mans winner - plus plenty more!

So sit back and furrow through some of our favourite images, as curated by the team, as we prepare for another massive year of stunning performance cars on the most incredible roads, told by the best writers in the business.
