Picture highlights from the 2014 Amelia Island Concours event, as a Mercedes 300SL and BMW 507 attract big money

Concours car events are fairly plentiful, with Pebble Beach, Villa d’Este and Salon Prive among the world’s most prestigious. But have you heard of Amelia Island? This year’s show was the 19th at the Florida location, and its wider presence ought to have been boosted by auctions by RM and Gooding.

In the RM Auction, top billing went to a 1939 Delahaye Roadster, which sold for 6.6million US dollars [£4m]. A little distance behind were a BMW 507 Series II Roadster at 2.42m dollars [£1.46m] and a Mercedes 300SL Roadster which went under the hammer at 1.84m dollars [£1.11m]. Among the highlights from Gooding's sales were a Porsche 907 Longtail, selling at 3.63m dollars [£2.18m] and a gorgeous Porsche 718 RSK, which sold for 3.3m dollars [£1.99m].
