Peugeot 108 review - can Peugeot's smallest raise a smile? - MPG and running costs

Peugeot's 108 city hatch has stiff competition against both its own siblings and the impressive VW Up

  • Easy to drive and park, tiny footprint ideal for crowded cities
  • Feels unpolished and crude, tiring at high speeds

MPG and running costs

The 108 GT-Line that we drove is rated at 65.7mpg, slightly lower than the comparable 1.0-litre Volkswagen Up, but still impressive for such a simple machine. If you were expecting the 80+ mpg that Peugeot claim is possible in the larger 208 HDi you might be disappointed, although cars with mpg figures that high rarely meet them in the real world anyway.
