Tuned Ferrari California

Novitec Rosso tunes the Ferrari California supercar, with 493bhp and suspension tweaks

Novitec Rosso has unveiled its tuned Ferrari California. The tuner is quite adept at turning its hand to tweaking Maranello’s finest, and this is its first take on the controversial Cali, the first Prancing Horse to sport a twin-clutch automatic gearbox and heavy folding hard-top. That hasn’t stopped NR having a stab at modifying it though, and compared to its previous efforts, the California boasts subtle and tasteful exterior upgrades. The wheels are bigger – 21in up front, 22in items at the rear – which makes the Cali more muscular (especially towards the rear), while there are some discreet aerodynamic aids in the shape of a front spoiler, rear diffuser and rear lip spoiler. All the aero additions are made from carbonfibre to help keep weight down. The 4.3-litre V8 engine gets a 40bhp lift – power is up to 493bhp – while torque climbs to 382lb ft. The rises come courtesy of a new calibration for the engine management, a stainless-steel exhaust system and a higher 8300rpm redline. It’s not just the looks and performance that receive attention, though: the ride height is dropped 35m and the car’s springs are calibrated to take the lower ride and new wheels into account. There’s also a neat hydraulic lift system that’ll nudge the front of the car up by 40mm to get you up ramps and over speed bumps. There’s no word on the price of all this modification yet, but consider us fans of the boost it gives the convertible California. Watch a video of Chris Harris driving the California at evo Coty Read Henry’s drive of Novitec Rosso’s take on the Ferrari F430 Follow evo on Twitter for the latest fast car and supercar news
