Jaguar F-Pace SVR SV Bespoke Edition 1988 debuts

Jaguar’s excellent F Pace SVR to reference the marque’s 1988 Le Mans win with new SV Bespoke Edition

Out from the collective silence at Jaguar right now, the British marque has debuted a new special edition of its excellent F-Pace SVR that references its 1988 win at Le Mans. Utilising the SV Bespoke department, the F-Pace SV Bespoke Edition 1988 features bespoke colour and trim elements inspired by the Silk Cut-liveried XJR-9 racer that took the win with Jan Lammers, Johnny Dumfries and Andy Wallace at the wheel. A total of 394 will be made, the build number referencing the number of laps it completed in 1988.

Unique elements for the Edition 1988 include the Midnight Amethyst paintwork, which is contrasted with Sunset Gold Satin wheels and bagding. This is combined with the black pack, darkening the usually silver-finished window surrounds and grille, although the rear exhaust outlets retain their high-polish effect.

Inside, the cabin is finished in high quality semi-aniline leather in black, with matching Sunset Gold highlights across the dashboard, steering wheel and paddles. This specification is in addition to the already-loaded SVR, which includes a full suite of interior goodies including the new Privi Pro infotainment system, heated bucket seats and high-end stereo.

The 1988’s dynamic elements are also unchanged, meaning that under the bonnet is a 542bhp supercharged 5-litre V8 engine paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-biased all-wheel drive system. The F-Pace SVR picked up a few subtle upgrades alongside its 2020 facelift, the most dramatic being a software package for the transmission nabbed from the Project 8

Of course, the news comes after a period of sustained silence from Jaguar after announcing the cancellation of all its combustion-engined development projects before relaunching as a high-margin luxury (rather than premium) electric car brand in 2025. Little information has been revealed of its progress beyond this initial announcement, but until then expect more of these types of special edition Jaguar SVR models to be on the horizon because despite their relative age, Jaguar is selling every one they build.
