Humberside Police bags itself a V8 Lexus IS-F, although not in undercover spec

It’s the latest in the series of quite cool performance police cars.

After the German Scirocco and Italian Gallardo comes the North of England’s response – a Lexus IS-F.

Humberside Police has decked out one of the lairy 417bhp sports saloons in full Jam Sandwich livery, adding £30K of computers and communications equipment to the £53,376 IS-F.

While the thought of a 168mph high-speed pursuit car is a bit on the scary side (if you live or drive by Hull, anyway), respect’s got to go to the force for eschewing the usual diesel practicality and going for a rear-wheel-drive V8.

The only trick they seem to have missed is keeping it in road spec for one of the most subtly mean undercover cars going. That’s good news for us, though…
