McLaren 570 range updated for 2018 including a new Sport Pack for 570GT

570S and GT also benefit from other small updates launched on the Spider

McLaren has revealed a host of updates for its 570 Coupe to bring it into line with the recently launched Spider, while the flagship GT model is now available with a Sport Pack upgrade, which has been engineered to deliver a sharper and more engaging driving experience.

Essentially, the Sport Pack takes the suspension and steering settings from the S, which means a quicker steering rack (the standard GT’s is two per cent slower for more relaxed long distance driving) and a stiffer spring rate stiffness. Also carried over from the S are the damper actuators and suspension uprights, plus the software mapping for the dampers, electrically assisted steering and stability control. Finally, the standard alloy wheels (19-inch front and 20-inch rears) are wrapped in more aggressive Pirelli P-Zero Corsa rubber. The Sport Pack option is available now and costs £4900.

Other changes to the GT include the adoption of standard fit carbon ceramic brakes, plus the option of a variable tint panoramic glass roof. The driver can lighten or darken the glass by varying an electric current that passes through the roof’s electrochromic coating. McLaren previously showcased this technology when it was featured on the 570 GT MSO Concept that was shown at Pebble Beach in 2016.

Meanwhile, the rest of the 570 line-up has been treated to the same upgrades that debuted late last year on the drop top Spider. Essentially, this means owners can choose from a wider range of external paint finishes and interior trim options. Also available for the first time are the lightweight 10-spoke forged alloys and Liquid Black painted brake calipers, while inside the display for the optional reversing camera has been moved from the IRIS display in the centre console to the TFT instrument cluster ahead of the driver. Finally, all versions now get the 12mm taller rear spoiler that was first seen on the 570S Track Pack.
