Brabus Mercedes CLA revealed

The Mercedes CLA saloon gets the Brabus styling treatment and a hike to 242bhp

The new Mercedes CLA has been given the Brabus treatment. Effectively an A-class saloon, the CLA’s styling apes its four-door coupe big brother, the CLS, with a swoopy body smothering a front-wheel-drive chassis.

The Brabus CLA makeover is relatively restrained (especially compared to the Brabus 800 Roadster), currently amounting to new alloy wheel designs – five different ones, available in 18 or 19in sizes – as well as quad exhaust pipes and lower sports suspension. While no interior pictures have yet been unveiled, Brabus will tailor the CLA’s inner quarters to the buyer’s content.

Performance can be boosted, too, a quirkily named ‘PowerXtra’ kit massaging the Mercedes CLA250’s 2-litre turbo four petrol engine from 208 to 242bhp while the torque figure climbs from 258 to 284lb ft. The regular CLA250’s 149mph top speed and 6.7sec 0-62 time should therefore see slight improvements.

Prices haven’t yet been revealed, but these tweaks are likely to take the CLA250’s price tag past £30,000.
