Here’s proof Mercedes is hard working on the next generation CLK Cabrio – and of the fact that the coupe’s beautiful sister will get a retractable hardtop. Clearly visible is the joint between the windshield frame and the front edge of the roof. The wider disguise of the C-post and the longer boot lid are other details that give away the secret of this prototype. Bigger and yet a bit more elegant than the outgoing model, the new CLK twins will be based on the C-class saloon.

Engines will come from the C-class line-up and will include a V8 for a CLK 500. We expect the coupé to arrive at the dealers in summer 2009 with the convertible following just a few months later.
