A heavily modified Ford GT, that is said to be producing in excess of 2000bhp, has broken the speed record for a standing mile at the biannual Texas Mile event. Developed by M2K Motorsports, the Ford GT achieved a top speed of 278mph after one mile from a standing start.

The record was previously set by the same car, which had in the past been prepared by Hennessey Motorsport. After some negotiation, the car moved over to M2K Motorsports and prepped for this latest run, smashing the previous 257.7mph run.
