Elfin MS8: Elfin bound for the UK

5.7-litre V8-engined Australian roadsters on sale here from April

Following the acquisition of Australian sports car maker Elfin by Walkinshaw Performance, the company’s V8-engined MS8 roadsters will go on sale in Britain this April. They will be sold through Walkinshaw’s Chipping Norton base, with selected Vauxhall VXR dealers handling initial enquiries.

All versions of the Elfin MS8 are powered by the 329bhp 5.7-litre 'LS1' V8 from the Holden (Vauxhall) Monaro CV8 coupe. The space-framed two-seater is available in Clubman (open wheel) and Streamliner body styles, the lighter, 900kg Clubman said to be good for 0-62mph in 4.2sec, the 1100kg Streamliner taking 4.4sec.

UK prices are yet to be announced, but in Australia the Clubman starts at around £39,000, the Streamliner £48,000. That sounds pricey, but the MS8 is a quality car; both versions were styled by Holden Design and both feature a six-speed gearbox, limited-slip differential, AP Racing brake callipers and ABS. Road-legal and trackday versions will be offered.
