The Le Mans Classic only takes place once every two years, and as it started in 2002 this will be just the fourth time the event has been held. Cars of a type that raced at Le Mans between 1923 and 1979 are allowed to compete (split up into different classes, obviously) but eligibility rules are strict to keep authenticity to a maximum. There are also parade laps (right) and a generally brilliant atmosphere of bonhomie. www.lemansclassic.com

Sept 19-21GOODWOOD REVIVALGot a thing for ’50s or ’60s fashion? Then why not pop along to the Revival? There should be some jolly nice cars there too… www.goodwood.co.uk
