Volkswagen Touareg R-line

Volkswagen's sporty R-line trim level is applied to the Q7 and Cayenne rivaling Touareg SUV

Volkswagen has unveiled its Touareg R-line. The large SUV – related to the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne – is the latest VW to gain the sporty trim line, which apes the S-line and M Sport options on Audis and BMWs. It joins the Polo R-line and Scirocco R-line models. On the outside, the VW Touareg R-line gains a set of 20in ‘Tarragona’ alloy wheels, more assertive bumpers and side skirts and a number of R-line badges. There are also bi-xenon headlights and LED rear lights. Inside, there’s a panoramic sliding sunroof, leather seats, touchscreen satnav and audio, a DAB digital radio and a standard eight-speed automatic gearbox. VW brags that the R-line kit adds over £4000 of equipment and styling embellishments for a £750 premium. The Volkswagen Touareg R-line costs £44,025 as a 201bhp 3-litre V6, or £45,645 for a 241bhp version. The trim isn’t available on the V8 model. The Volkswagen CC range has also had an update, with price cuts on each model. They range from £470 to £1320, with the removal of Adaptive Chassis Control from the standard equipment list of lesser-powered CCs (including the best-selling CC GT TDI 140) aiding their discounts.
