Bentley Mulsanne review - the ultimate in luxury? - Prices, specs and rivals

Can the world's most torque-rich production car reward its driver?

  • Power delivery, ride, refinement, build quality
  • Interior tech, body roll, not exactly cheap

Prices, specs and rivals

The Mulsanne Speed doesn’t really have many rivals, aside from of course the Rolls Royce Ghost. Both car’s offer extreme levels of luxury and refinement, although as we’ve already mentioned, it’s the Bentley that takes the win for driver involvement, while the Rolls is nicer to be driven in.

The Mercedes Benz S-Class does a lot that the Bentley can do in terms of ride comfort and cabin noise levels. It also easily bests the Mulsanne for interior technology. But it comes nowhere near in achieving the truly bespoke hand-built feel that you get the moment you step into the Mulsanne.

Prices for the Mulsanne start at £230,515 for the standard trim V8 auto. Move up to the Mulliner spec trim and prices jump to £243,655. The top of the line Mulsanne Speed starts at £253,155.

These are of course just the tipping point when it comes to the costs of a Mulsanne. Personalisation options consist largely of whatever you might require, with Bentley costing it appropriately.

In terms of specifications, the Naim sound system, particularly in its ultimate 24-speaker form, is the best available in a road car today and is well worth the investment, should you not mind what it adds to the price tag.
