Audi S4 prices

New supercharged V6 S4 undercuts its sports saloon rivals

Audi's brand new, brimming with technology S4 has been given its UK pricetag. The saloon will sell for £34,225 with the more practical Avant estate version commanding £35,570. It means a cut of around £3.5k over the previous, V8-endowed S4 which had less torque, slower accelaration and was far heavier on emissions and fuel consumption.

It also means the S4 is priced below comparable rivals such as the BMW 335i M Sport and Mercedes-Benz C350 Sport. The cut over the previous S4 should also help keep Audi be in high demand, the German manufacturer recording a rise in sales for November 2008 over 2007, a rare thing in the current sales climate.

Audi's seven-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox is an extra £1420 on the saloon, but oddly just £1230 on the estate.

Read our review of the new S4 here. And if £34k just isn't enough to spend an Audi, then why not invest in the new V10 R8?
