Supercharged Hennessey Chevrolet C8 Corvette H700 debuts

American tuner Hennessey Performance has launched a supercharger package for the C8 Corvette, lifting output to 708bhp

Hennessey Performance has revealed a new supercharger kit for Chevrolet’s mid-engined C8 Corvette, significantly raising peak power and torque figures over the standard Stingray. The upgrade is available for all 2020-2022 C8 Coupe models and costs from $34,950 (c£30,000).

The new supercharger is fitted to the base 6.2-litre LT2 V8 is of a high-flow centrifugal design, increasing output by 213bhp and 168lb ft of torque to 708bhp and 638lb ft in total. This is enough to raise its power-to-weight to 443bhp/ton. For reference, that’s more power and significantly more torque than the range-topping Z06, which sends 670bhp and 460lb ft of torque to the ground from its 5.5-litre LT6 unit.

Together with the new supercharger, Hennessey has also fitted a new air induction system with an air-to-water intercooler, plus an ECU tune and an optional cat-back exhaust system also designed to optimise the new components. Power is sent to the rear wheels through the standard 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, and although new performance figures haven’t been disclosed, expect some improvement on the factory 3.2sec 0-62mph time.

Hennessey will also fit a new set of staggered 19- and 20-inch lightweight wheels finished in either brushed aluminium, satin black or graphite. Buyers can also opt for a decal set in blue, white, black, silver or red, with unique badging and a numbered plaque part of the package.

Company Founder and CEO, John Hennessey, said: 'The stock C8 Corvette Stingray is an extraordinary sports car, yet Chevrolet left some V8 performance on the table. Our exciting 'H700' supercharger package integrates seamlessly with the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and our exhaust upgrade sounds much more aggressive than stock.'

The upgrade is available for all 2020-2022 C8 models and comes with a 3 year/36,000-mile limited warranty. Prices start at $34,950 (c£30,000) for the power upgrade on its own, with the wider package including chassis, cooling and styling upgrades costing $49,950 (c£42,000).
