Audi A6 review - German executive does just about everything well - Interior and tech

Audi A6 is Ingolstadt’s foil to the BMW 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-class

  • Beautiful interior, mighty turbodiesels, comfort, refinement and space
  • Getting old now, rivals more fun to drive

Interior and Tech

The A6 might not be the youngest competitor in its class (though a facelift at the end of 2014 helped), but the interior remains the benchmark. Fit and finish are exemplary; Audi’s cabins might lack some of the more dramatic styling of its rivals, but appear far more timeless and classy as a result. The A6 is no different, the large, simple dials in the instrument panel supplemented by a useful screen between then; the main screen for the info and entertainment functions popping out of the middle of the dashboard. It’s spacious in there too, with lots of room front and rear, while the boot is huge (even more so in the Avant).

The tech count is as high as you’d anticipate in this class, the A6 allowing you to write in navigation commands with the finger pad, for example, while there’s all manner of connectivity and a comprehensive list of safety and driver aid technology as standard across the entire range. Choose S line and there’s LED head- and tail lights, the indicators on them sweeping dramatically creating a very cool (or try-hard depending on your viewpoint) feature.
