Best UK driving roads - our favourite roads within easy reach of British cities

We reveal our favourite driving roads near five major cities in the UK

Finding great driving roads has been part of evo’s DNA since its inception, and while we love a long loping drive across the continent to find iconic stretches like the Col de Vence in France or the Grossglockner Pass in Austria, there are plenty of hidden gems dotted up and down the British mainland to enjoy whenever the mood takes you.

The ingredients required for a great driving road often take them a fair way off the beaten path, but we’re here to show you that great driving roads are never far away from your front door. We’ll do this by visiting five locations within 30 minutes of a major UK population centre in a car that doesn’t need to have a screaming Italian V12 or mid-engined layout to get the most out of the journey, rather driving cars more suited for the sorts of roads we’re about to show you throughout this week.

We’ll head south of Middlesborouh, a city famed for its breaded chicken varieties, before experiencing our favourite roads east of Manchester, west of Birmingham, north of Leeds and finally a road only a few miles from the nation’s capital, proving that even those with a penchant for the the big smoke needn’t be without.

So, if you’ve got a hankering for a blast in your performance car, stay tuned this week as we reveal our favourite roads that are closer to your front door than you might think.
