Automobili Amos’ Lancia Delta Futurista is a Delta Integrale reimagined for 2018

Automobili Amos is taking a leaf out of Singer’s book with a thoroughly reworked Lancia Delta Integrale for £270,000

Italian coachbuilder Automobili Amos is hoping to become the next successful ‘resto-modding’ company, following in the steps of Singer. But where Singer focuses on exclusive and painstakingly detailed versions of classic Porsches, Automobili Amos is focusing its attention on Lancia’s Delta Integrale hot hatch.

Christened the Lancia Delta Futurista, the car takes its base from a standard Lancia Delta but is thoroughly rebuilt with new modern materials and techniques to help give the classic shape a new level of performance and luxury.

The Delta Futurista features a wider hand-beaten aluminium body and a front end made out of carbon fibre. At the rear there are more carbon panels to help keep the weight down for a 90kg saving over the original car.

Inside, the interior has been inspired by the Group B Delta S4 Stradale while incorporating modern touches such as Recaro front seats and a custom steering wheel with integrated controls.

Under the bonnet there have been further improvements, such as a new custom air intake and water cooling system while the original transmission has been reinforced with the car also gaining a rebuilt differential.

The Delta Futurista is the brainchild of Automobili Amos CEO Eugenio Amos and his stated ambition to make Lancias great again, while harking back to a simpler time in the performance car world. “This car means a lot to me”, he says. “It represents my romantic vision in a world that is too aseptic, too fast, that runs like the wind, superficial and intangible. This car means that I had enough of the car world, both as a client before and as a manufacturer now.”

If you want performance figures then you may have to wait a little longer as Eugenio states that he only wants to talk about his passion and nostalgia and “these feelings are not measured in numbers.” What we do know is that a price of £270,000 is being mooted so the Automobili Amos Delta Futurista is likely to remain as exclusive as the other restomod creations we’ve seen emerge in recent years.
