McLaren MP4 configurator

You can now build your own McLaren MP4 12C online. Cue a mind-boggling list of options.

McLaren have launched their online configurator for the forthcoming MP4-12C. Prospective buyers (and fantasists) can now spec the car to their liking from a comprehensive options list. The configurator will link directly to dealerships when they are appointed from May 2010.

Among the usual fare of paint finishes and option packs is what McLaren refers to as the ‘Driver Zone’ interior option. This allows the driver to trim the driver side seat, door trim and dash top to their taste, creating an asymmetrical cabin. We’re not sure of the benefits of this but then there’s no accounting for taste.

Of more interest are the performance upgrades available for the 12C. They include a lightweight sports exhaust system, carbon ceramic brakes and two lightweight forged alloy wheel options. A smattering of carbon fibre can also be specified for the door mirrors, engine bay and side-pods.

No word on prices is available through the configurator but considering the amount of carbon on offer, if you have to ask… stick it on the overdraft.

Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton have already specced their dream MP4-12C’s. Watch them doing that here, or to build one of your very own, click here.
